What are you running for timing on your FE engines?

    A buddy's strong running 63 , 390 automatic uses 12 degrees initial and 38 all in with a lot of success .

    January 6,1954

Probably about $1500 ...lotta coin back then . My late uncle bought a new '52 , then traded on a '53 and finally went to a new '54 ...all pretty much the same shade of green .Obviously he liked that body style . T

    lambrecht auction

The auctioneers job is to get the enthusiasm going to drive up the price ...commission is involved . For bidders who know what they are bidding on , it's not a problem . But as OLDMICS said , stupid is as stupid does . Remember the BJ auction 3 or 4 years ago where the Volkswagon Minibus went...

    1954 Skyliner Project

Like you said , it will take a lot of time and money to complete . Back when I was young and foolish and getting into cars an old buddy said " estimate the time and money it will take ...and then triple that number , you MIGHT be close " . He knew what he was talking about . Emphasize that to...

Why so many little 'birds for sale?

I'm a certified Ford nut but for some reason the Bird never appealed to me enough to buy one . I have a lot of Fords on my bucket list but not the T-Bird . The '57 was probably my favourite for styling and I lost interest after about '63 . I know guys ( and gals ) in the local T-Bird club...

1958 Continental - OK to post on this forum?

Beautiful car ....not many around and certainly not in that condition . Yeah a heavy car will frequent gas stations but , like you said , it's worth it . Very classy ride . T

    bias ply tires

Only issue I had back in the day was trying to save a few bucks on 2 ply bias tires . Bad move ......4 ply bias ( I liked Allstate ) were very reliable . T

    Batmobile????????

I respect Barris for his work over the years , but I always thought the Batmobile was one of the most overhyped cars ever . Watching the proceedings on BJ as they auctioned it only confirmed my thoughts . What a waste of money .

Spam... What to do if you see it...

Too bad we can't push a button here that would fry the spammers computer ...only in the movies I guess :D T

    Canadian Clones, Monarchs & Meteors

My father had a '51 Monarch ......very similar to a Merc , but I think the Merc grille looked better . The Monarch had a very majestic looking lion hood ornament that I thought looked cool . Later on the Meteor came out and I thought the '57 looked pretty good . The differences were cosmetic but...

    59 Ford Trivia

I remember the '59 Galaxie my parents bought , as you say , after the New Year . It was a sharp looking car with the T-Bird roof . Unfortunately my folks chose the gutless 6 for power . I don't recall many of the lower line 500's around , and would have to think that the Galaxie would command...

    1957 Skyliner

I'm always looking at '57s for sale ...check Hemmings , Cars on Line , etc. , for comparables to use in your decision making . 28 k is certainly in the ballpark but only you know the condition . T

Found in a Grain Warehouse Attic

Some interesting comments . I like the idea of taking an experienced person with you ...pay him for his time and expertise , it might be the best money you will spend . T

    sad day today

Interesting connection between the failed Edsel and the Mustang . I realized long ago that Lee Iacocca wasn't the only important person behind the Mustang but I guess they needed a "face" and he gladly played that roll to the hilt . I was grabbed by the Mustang right away and it was my first new...

    sad day today

Hindsight is 20-20 but it looks like the big shots had some infighting and blew it . I might be thinking in 2013 dollars , but the walk between the Ford and the Merc didn't seem to be a big deal back then .....why market an in between car ? T
