    55 Fairlane fuel woes

From my limited experience with bad fuel pumps, when fuel comes out of those little holes, the fuel pump has a bad/torn diaphragm. If it was recently rebuilt, I would contact the rebuilder to seek remediation.

    Horn repair

II have this "Hi" side horn off of my 1959 Mercury Monterey that will not sound. Through troubleshooting i see the 'coiled wire' (not sure what this element is called) is broken. I was hoping somebody would know the specs on this component so I can rewrie bypass the broken wire with a suitable...

1959 MEL door glass verticle anti rattle

Thanks to all. I think I'll start with the Velcro suggestion. Seems that since the fuzzy part is what is worn out, so I should be able to just re-apply and no more rattle. We'll see how it goes.

1959 MEL door glass verticle anti rattle

This goes in the door in the rear window channel. Mine are all worn out, and the driver's side is broken. Does any one know if other year/make/model inserts would fit my 1959 Mercury Monterey? If not, I'll have to fabricate/refurbish/reuse the ones I have.

    Door glass lower stop

Just to close out this thread. I decided to use a piece of rubber stock I had on hand instead of the Plasti Dip. I just glued the rubber strip to the top of the stop. The glass stops nicely now, and the rubber ensures there's no rattle or squeak while driving or idling with the window in the...

    '59 Merc Door Panels

I finally got some time to resume working on this old door panel. I want to test fit the panel to the door before covering the panel. Other than getting the overall shape and size of the door panel right, the other most critical part to making sure the door manel fits is getting the slots for...

    '59 Merc Door Panels

Thanks for all the comments suggestions. Here's where I'm at: I got a 1/8" x 2' x4' piece of Tempered Hardboard at Home Depot. I traced the perimeter of the old door panel onto the new board Here's the outline of the door panel on the new board. the 2' x 4' piece is just the right size...

    '59 Merc Door Panels

I have this Driver's side door panel off of my 1959 Mercury Monterey. It is in pretty rough shape. There are no aftermarket replacements for this year/make/model that I can find. I'd like to "rebuild" the existing panel. The alternative is to buy some vinyl and padding and recreate the...

    Door glass lower stop

Thanks for all the tips. I was able to use the exploded view to get a good idea of the shape of the bracket. Using the remains of the rusted parts still on the car plus the location of the window in the lowered position, I was able to get enough data to fabricate a "new and improved" bracket...

    Door glass lower stop

My driver's side door glass fell into the door. Upon disassembly, I noticed this rusty bracket and removed them. At first I thought it was two brackets. But looking at the exploded diagram, it looks like they are both from the same bracket (21578). I cannot find a new or used one...

Stuck door handle - won't come off!

The spline is pretty standard, but the door handles are not the generic type. Luckily the handles are still in serviceable condition and will still perform their intended function.

Stuck door handle - won't come off!

Yep, had to use my biggest claw hammer, an old framing hammer. The claws are flat enough to securely grab right behind the Window handle and the head is long enough so I can push off against the door shell and create a little leverage. I was using a flat crowbar/pry bar, but the "claws" on...
