Ford actually made a lot of improvements during the 49 production year. Look for a model made in August 1949. The coupe had a trunk big enough to sleep in - I know.

Bought a pair of nice (used) chrome plated sunvisor brackets at all Ford Carlisle for my 49 convertible. They look OK but the screw pattern is a little off. The part number is 7A7604122. Any idea what they might fit? Thanks

Sure looks like Bayview Blue Metallic which is the original colour of my 49 convt.

1949 8BA passenger car was blue (so was the bell housing) The color was changed to that bronze, gold, copper whatever, for 1950. I don't kn0w what they did for the bellhousing. Bronze for 49 is a geezer memory without documentation. '41 Geezer

Had good luck with electrolysis on small parts. easy to do, no harsh chemicals, kindalike start it and come back tomorrow. lots of examples and how tos on the web.

Nothing worse than old fart memories. Do this, do that, but none of them ever did it. Had two converts, cut a notch in the cross member so the regular od transmission would fit. No problem. Purists want that crappy crazy (expensive) goofy linkage for the underslung solenoid. Good luck...
