    Timing Gear

Yes, that is what I believe. But, can I get it in time by ignoring the pin and dimple and just sight in TDC on #1?

    Timing Gear

I rolled the car while inspecting the rotor. The rotor started moving immediately in each direction. In 12" of travel, the rotor moved from one cylinder to the next. This tells you something??? I then, brought the #1 piston to TDC and "tried" to re-time, but to no avail.

It was running fine a month ago. Then... see my last thread Help! It won't run. MORE HELP!! ( 1 2 view all) I have the original distributor.

    Timing Gear

I still haven't got the car started, but I'm working on it!! I tried to re time, but it won't start. I was told that I should double check that cylinder 1 was at top dead center; well I don't think that it was. The pin lines up with the dimple in the timing gear NEAR TDC of cylinder two...

Help! It won't run. MORE HELP!!

The info on ModelABasics is fantastic!! I gapped the plugs to .035, they were at .020; the points were also too close. Problem however - the point block literally fell apart upon screw tightening!! So, I have to get a new one. Tom and Chris both mention the amount of gas line that extends...

Help! It won't run. MORE HELP!!

Thank you, Thank you!! I have changed the condenser, actually before the last start. How do I test the condenser?? 30ccpickup, thanks for the url of the Modelabasics. Tremendous resource! Today, I thought that I would check the plug gaps and the points. The plug gaps were about .021 and the...

Help! It won't run. MORE HELP!!

After trying to start it after each of my attempts to fix it, I ran the battery down pretty far! After charging overnight, it started right up this afternoon!! It ran like a top, so I took it down the road and then out on the highway - deja vu!! Sputter, miss, backfire & stall. After further...

Help! It won't run. MORE HELP!!

I did what you fellas suggested, and it still won't start! Could it be the coil? Can I put a VOM on the coil and get a reading? Popeye - question about your starting proc. You wrote spark down 3 notches and gas all the way up. Isn't that the normal running locations rather than starting?

Re: Help! It won't run. Thanks, I'll first try the points adjustment. I doubt that my local NAPA will have the condenser.

We went for a ride today, and got about 1/4 mile from home and it (1930 Model A) started chugging and missing, and then it just died. I got it started and it seemed to idle just fine, but when I started out again, missing, chugging and jerking; and a couple of backfires. I thought perhaps it...

    Cost of Re-Upholstering

I just bought my first 1930 Model A! It was restored some years ago, and was in storage for quite awhile. The seats, side panels and roof liner have all been attacked by moths. Any suggestions and/or estimates on reupholstering? Thanks
