Help! Coupe stuck in gear before the parade.

I have a 29 coupe that I rolled out of the garage by hand this morning. I pulled it out backwards and it was in gear so I went back up and pulled it into neutral and rolled it the rest of the way out. It now seems the gears are bound and I cannot get it to transmission it into third. I have...

    Rear Main Oil Leak Help!

The engine is an A. We had a few engines that we were robbing parts from when we rebuilt this one so we might have grabbed the drain tube from the AA engine we have. Someone robbed parts from this engine 30 or 40 years ago. Really interesting to know. That is really why I love working on these...

    Rear Main Oil Leak Help!

Great advice. I will remove the ball and reinstall. I am sure that was my issue all along. A lot of work just to remove a little check ball. Really appreciate the fact that I have a lifeline. For a newbie this can get frustrating quick. Thanks!

    Rear Main Oil Leak Help!

That makes sense. It just seems like this might be my problem because it looks like it will not let much oil past it.

    Rear Main Oil Leak Help!

Hello, I had a bad rear main oil leak and I pintpointed it to a problem around the rear main bearing cap or return tube. This is a fresh rebuild of the engine so I was disappointed to see a steady stream of oil coming from the flywheel hole. I removed the pan and rear main bearing cap to clean...

    Four Year Restoration Done!

Thanks. I still need to have the original orange pin strip applied. I have the paint and the person lined up but I still haven't made up my mind yet. It's just such a contrast I am not sure I want to do it.

    Four Year Restoration Done!

Finally finished up the 29 coupe! What a journey to say the least. I am still battling the DMV over the original 1929 licence plates I found for it. They want me to have yearly safety inspections, have the highway patrol put a VIN plate on, and pay annual registration fees. Since I had to pay...

First Drive and Burned Up Throwout Bearing/Help!

Terry, Great advice. I will definitely take that route. I just finished up the engine and have everything hooked up perfectly and don't want to mess with it and I really don't mind working under the car. I just ordered new gaskets and bearing from Mikes and Brattons so I should be in good...

First Drive and Burned Up Throwout Bearing/Help!

I just ordered gaskets and a throwout bearing. I will be careful with the springs. Thanks gentlemen. Glad to have a lifeline I can use. Sorry it's so frequent.

First Drive and Burned Up Throwout Bearing/Help!

Mitch, I did have it the other way as that is the way it was drawn in the MACS Auto diagram. I will switch it if you think that is the way it should go. I will start to pull the rear this week and will order a new Federal Mogul bearing. I think the one that I put in to start with was a cheaper...

First Drive and Burned Up Throwout Bearing/Help!

I pumped grease into the zerk until it came out. It must have had debri in it or was a cheap bearing. I thought I purchased a better bearing but might not have. Any suggestions on a good bearing and would the rearend or the engine be easier to pull?

First Drive and Burned Up Throwout Bearing/Help!

I am thinking it might be easier to drop the rearend than the engine. I just got everything hooked up in front. I might be wrong though as this is my first Model A. What a mess. The car was supposed to be in a Halloween parade.

First Drive and Burned Up Throwout Bearing/Help!

This is a new build so it was a brand new bearing. Everything I thought was adjusted correctly and the shaft was greased so I am not sure what happened I will order a new bearing today and go from there. Thanks!
