    Model A CRASH??

According to the CDC data quoted above, deaths per million miles traveled were much higher in the 20s and 30s than in the 50's, and are much lower than that today. Driving has become consistently safer over the last 100 years. The data do not support the idea that driving in the 50s was more...

    Model A CRASH??

Here's a chart showing vehicle deaths per million miles traveled: It seems that cars (and roads and drivers?) have gotten progressively safer with time. If you look at deaths/100.000 population it also appears that the '30s were a very dangerous time.

    My experience with 10% gas

As with most products the 1% of folks who think they've experienced a bad outcome with a product complain publicly and loudly, the 99% for whom it worked just fine don't say anything, so the online buzz will always be driven by those who post. In the last 60 years of using questionable, badly...

    fire extinguisher

New Halon 1211 extinguishers are readily available from many online sources in the US. Manufacture of new Halon is banned, but there is a substantial stockpile of existing recycled material available for both new extinguishers and refills that will take us through the next several decades...

OT: Is a 'themed' shop necessary to a (potential) customer??

Who do you want or expect your customers to be? What are they looking for? I expect if your primary interest is in selling good quality, high value restoration work to Model A owning cheapskates (I'd count myself in aspiring to become part of that group), then the advice above is excellent...

    2015 MARC National Meet

In my experience of traveling to many countries around the world the US is the hardest country in the world for a US citizen to enter. Much easier to go to Canada than come back. ICE can be a real PITA.

New England meet-- what to expect?

She Who Must Be Obeyed is incredibly tolerant of my hobbies, so I strongly suspect a four door sedan is in our future. I expect it will indeed be much more comfortable on longer drives.

New England meet-- what to expect?

Thanks for the additional information! I guess I'll see how the bathroom remodeling project has progressed and decide. There are many demands on weekend days.

New England meet-- what to expect?

Thanks very much for the responses! We're in the western 'burbs of Boston and have joined MARC and the local Minuteman Model A group. I expect that choice of model will be a major topic of discussion. Ever impractical, I love the look and thought of a roadster. My wife wants a roof, a back...

New England meet-- what to expect?

We are hoping to acquire a Model A in the next year or so, and are trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible. I see that there is a "New England Meet" in Long Island in September, a few hours drive from here. I have no idea what to expect from such an event and am wondering if it's worth...

    New Model A owners

I'm lurking, learning, and hope to acquire a car in the next couple of years. I don't think reminding newbies that they can search the archives or use google to see what was in the past 1000 posts on a given subject is out of order. Got to keep it interesting for everyone. Here's a link that...
