    Continued Starting Issues

Model A left sitting for 6 years. New battery, starter turns, voltage at coil and spark at points. 1) cleaned tank out with repeated flushing; fuel flowing clean, bought new pencil filters. 2) rebuilt carburetor with kit, replacing all gummed up jets, 3) removed spark plugs. This is how they...

    Starting Issues

I know it’s my fault - left my restored 1930 Model A sitting for 6 years without pickling the engine. Lots of rust in the tank and carburetor clogged. Spent the weekend rebuilding the carb and cleaning all the gunk out. Used a rebuild kit to replace all the jets. Checked distributor; coil is...

    Side Wind Screens

Thanks for the replies; I looked at the Bratton's site and think that I may have "custom made" (i.e. carved out of wood) brackets. I'll post pics when I get to car.

    Side Wind Screens

My 1930 Model A has two side glass windscreens. The glass sits inside a chrome frame that is attached to two brackets fastened to the door. The fellow who restored the car apparently made the brackets out of wood, painted to look like metal. The wood has now broken. Does anyone have any...

    1930 Model A Clutch

Just got back into town and found time to deal with this clutch problem again. After the latest comments I decide that maybe the trunnion arm and clutch fork release needed a closer look. Here's the clutch fork. New one on the way. I guess the pin just drives in with a mallet?

    1930 Model A Clutch

The car was restored by an old fellow up north and he seems to have been conscientious; I've been driving the car for nearly a year and it's driven three to four times a week. The car was shifting normally and clutch appeared perfectly functional and then one shift it wasn't. The throwout...

    1930 Model A Clutch

Attached are pics of the throwout bearing, one with no pressure on the clutch and the second with the clutch all the way to the floor. The throwout bearing moves about two inches (maybe a little less) but doesn't put any pressure on the fingers. both pics are identical; next post contains pic...

    1930 Model A Clutch

Thanks for quick reply Larry; got back under car and when clutch is depressed the arm turns and the throw out bearing moves forward; it just doesn't contact the '"fingers"; the throw out bearing does move about two inches but it's not contacting anything

    1930 Model A Clutch

I'm in Key West with my Model A Cab and have a clutch problem. The clutch goes all the way to the floor without disengaging the clutch. I've adjusted the trunion that attaches the clutch pedal to the clutch arm, but no joy. I took the clutch inspection plate off and pressing the clutch pedal...

    1930 Model A Clutch Question

This morning when starting the Model A the clutch pedal appeared to not engage the clutch. There was about two inches of play and then when I went to put it in first the gears ground without letting me engage. Is this an adjustment or do I need to think about a new clutch/ throw bearing etc.?
