    Alignment "checker"

Bill is correct the steering wheels have a master spline, and can only be put on one way. Also, the tape may tell the driver has an alignment problem, but more likely what he feels thru the steering wheel and the seat of his pants will tell him more. The reason for the tape at the 12:00...

Hot soak? No, not in the tub :)

After the first incident, you found the points gap had closed up a little and re-adjusted them. Not uncommon, rub blocks do wear. Then after the second incident, you found the points gap too wide. Was this because the points gap wasn't set correctly after the first incident? Or, do the...

    Vendor Shock Absorbers

Our club held its monthly tech session yesterday on Model A shock absorbers. One of our very knowledgeable members conducted it. He usually uses one of the handful of rebuilders in the country, as this method has been most cost effective, and the rebuilder he used most did a very quality job...

    Helping dad with his speedster

I remember the first time my daughter helped me with the Fordor. The project that day was cleaning and re-greasing the front wheel bearings. I talked her through it. Loosen lug nuts, put car up on jack stands, finish taking off lug nuts, remove dust cap, remove cotter pin, loosen and remove...

    Oil Filler Tubes Baffles Adjustment

I am puzzled why you would think the oil filler tube might be a cause of you oil link problem. Unless you are thinking the baffles are not allowing back pressure to flow. I think you have a serious rear main problem.

    Babbitus fragmentus!

Re: Go ahead and give this thread a one-star rating. Babbitus fragmentus! I haven't seen it mentioned (maybe I missed it), but there might have been oil starvation at the center bearing. Have you checked the oil passage for this bearing from the valve galley?

    Timing gear teeth...??

cj5 - What you have stated " that is the width of the teeth and not the diameter of the gear" isn't making sense to me. After talking to Dan McEachen (the who makes oversize gears); he states the over standard measurement refers to the center to center distance from the crankshaft to the...

    Terne Metal Fuel Lines

I was curious myself; I Google'd terne metal, and found it has excellent corrosion resistant qualities when in contact with petroleum products. It also works well when roll formed because of self-lubricating properties. There is lots more info than I can type here.
