Looking to improve my 28 coupe door latches and strikers ,,showing wear on the latch part and striker angle worn ,,,,springs are good ,,is the contact surface area meant to be curved or flat ,,,,constant adjustments so far are a bit hit and miss sometimes constantly popping open to staying shut...

Have done them by feel as I couldn’t figure the other way but did make a ring spacer to go between bearings for a bit of strength,,,made a starter ring and gradually machined until good preload achieved,,it’s trial and trial but diff has done many trouble free miles since ,,,,

With a bit of looking around I found myself an M46 trans and laycock overdrive,,,not that it helps but it’s an aluminium main case ,,it’s out of a 740 Volvo,,,

You’ve got it made for transmission supply ,,,living next to the land of Volvo ,,,I think I’ll have trouble sourcing one in Australia,,but I’ll start looking,,pretty sure I’ll manage the conversion with a bit of help from my machinist,,

I have a question regarding setting pinion and side bearings preload,,do we do it dry and clean ,,meaning no lube ,,as lube changes the drag feel ,,thanks ,,
