Re: ‘46 Convertible top not working I have a 47 conv and I operate the top manually. It takes two people but it is not too bad.

I have a 49 mercury with a bubba chevy dist and petronix and a blue bosch coil. I have a total of 3 new bosch coils . One of the coils makes the tach read nice and steady. The other 2 do not. I also ran a direct ground wire from the coil to the battery. I also run resistor plug wires.

I had a friend have his 41 chevy truck dustless blasted and it warped the doors and cab. I think he used too much pressure. I had a lot of work straighting it out, Never blast sheet metal unless you use low pressure,about 30 lbs and nozzle at 45 degree angle.

I had to do some metal work on sheetmetal that had been blasted by the dustless method and it was very difficult, The metal had been hardened by too much pressure.Never use more than 40 pounds and keep the tip at an amgle to the work. I use paint remover first to take off paint.

I have used silicone fluid in all my cars for the last thirty years and never a single problem.

Kube When i put mine together i used straight dishwashing soap on window frame and the rubber seal. Make sure the rubber stays straight as it goes into the channel. Tap bottom of window with rubber hammer . May have to rock window slightly. Put the rubber on glass first. When glass is all...

I have a 32 coupe with a dropped axle and 4bar susp. I run 7 degrees caster with one eighth toe out and i have a steering damper on it. Runs and handles great at any speed. Never any shake or wobble.

I have Diamond Back whitewalls on my 49 Nercury. Size 205R75 with 2.5 whitewall. I think they are the perfect size for this car I also have diamond backs on 2 other cars for years and never had one problem. I have coker on one car and had a ton of problems.

Wescotts Auto Restyling in oregon has 40 conv top bows and mechanisms. Oak Bows in Chambersburg Pa. makes new front and rear wood bows for these. They are really nice quality.Fran

I used two new 97s from speedway on my 49 Merc and spent two months trying to get it to run right. Finally gave up and sent them back. I then installed new english ones from Summit and they ran fine right out of the box. It has been 2 years now and no trouble at all.

Took the 49 merc on a 2 hour ride, ran fine. About 5 miles from home the car shut off for a second, then kept running. Did this twice, Bubba petronix dist, new 1.5 ohm coil. Coil was hot when I got home. Any ideas?? Fran

My molding is 62 3/4, I have 40 conv & the molding came with the car.
