Yeah, the point of this post was simply to ID the issue. I'd looked up GAV stuff previously and most of the advice suggesting making that spring clip tighter.... no one suggested that the knob might not be tight on its threads... so, now if someone searches for GAV stuff, they might see this...

This is one of those things where you feel stupid later when you realize what you've overlooked... My GAV knob would just vibrate all over the place... I could never set it, plus it didn't seem to make any difference anyway. I attempted to tighten things up a bit by compressing the snap ring...
