    Steering box

Hi! I am looking for a useable non-power steering box FPN 3548. The parts books show that this steering box was used from '51 thru '57. However, if someone knows this is not true, please let me know. At the end of the day, I am looking for a steering box to put on a '56 TBird frame. Thanks Kent

    If you were young

Funny about that - In 1967 I chose a 1955 T-Bird, 292 cu. in, all electric options, PB, PS, auto trans, Snowshoe white exterior, red/white interior. Still have the car... BUT, if I had it to do over again - '55 Bird, electric seat only, 3spd OD, Raven Black, with black/white, interior, limited...

    Torque converter

I actually found the solution! Who would have thought that the usual suspects (suppliers) would sell the hub? Got a good deal and it is on its way. Kent

    Torque converter

Well, I went and did it! As I was hoisting the engine out of the Bird, I must have broken off one of the ears on the torque converter - drat! Didn't discover it until I took the transmission and converter to the ****** shop. So, I think I might be looking for a converter, unless there is a fix...

    What Primer?

Frank, Yes, I have been using Scotchbrite on some other projects! I have let the T-Birds molder in storage for way too many years! It is good to be dealing with Detroit iron again. Happy New Year, Kent

    What Primer?

Frank 'n Ole, Thanks for the come-back! I am kind of out in the sticks of eastern South Dakota and Eastwood has become a good source for lots of stuff in other projects. I will try that epoxy primer, with a mask... Happy New Year, Kent

    Door mechanism

We are looking for the inner door mechanisms for a 1948-49 F-5 or F-1. LMC doesn't seem to stock them and I haven't been able to find any elsewhere. Any ideas? Thanks, Kent

    What Primer?

I am beginning a full rebuild of two '55 T-Birds. The first is a snowshoe bird that had a really cruddy paint job back in the late '70s. I have pulled the engine/transmission and am going to start on the front suspension as soon as I get parts. My question has to do with a primer to use in the...

    Ford Y Block Oiling Fix

I have participated in lengthy discussions about this zinc business for our old engines, on Volvo sites. I too was using Rotella for increased zinc, until someone pointed out that the cleaners inherent in diesle oils CLEANS the zinc off the internals. I am now using Joe Gibbs products with great...

    Suspension bushings

I have seen the two threads concerning bushing, but need a little more help... I am starting a rebuild of two '55 Birds and the suspension must be redone on both. Back in the day, late '60s, I put about 125,000 miles on a '55 and remember the mushy suspension (which was new at the time). I was...
