I bought the same ones as in post#8 but I got no instructions. Not to hard to figure out how to put them on but...
Should I use the small ends or the long ones, or is it just a matter of preference.
GAV set at 1/4 turn. When I bought the truck it was running fine. Issue started not too long back. Truck has not be driven on the street since around middle of 2020 but I still go out and start it every month or 2, make sure it runs well and has no issues. Gas is only about 6 months old.
I...
Wanting some advice on wither I should just clean out or rebuild the carb on my truck.
The truck starts up and runs fine, no dying and no cutting out. When you press on the gas peddle it just spits and chokes out and the truck stopping running if you let it, if you release the peddle it goes...
Thanks for all the helpful information. I think my main issue is the bendix getting stuck. I removed the started, checked it, and then put it back on. Starter worked just fine. This is the 3rd time this has happened since I have owned this truck.
My"A" has been starting with no issues until recently. Push starter rod and get nothing, this has happened before just after I put the new starter switch on. When I removed the switched I noticed that the alignment between the switch and the starter button is off. Is there a trick to get these...
So I need side mirrors for my '28 open cab PU. I bought some from Macs (I think) that screw into the stanchion. I have searched and it seems these may not work too well but I wanted to try and at least get them put on. My trouble is that I cannot get the screws out. Any hints on how best to get...
Just an update.
It appears I do indeed have a single plate clutch. In fact the inspection cover is louvered, so 'March 1929 to the End' from what I can find out.
The serial number on the engine notes a July 1928 engine, I cannot get to the number on the frame to confirm.
Starter does have...
I am doing pretty good if I only missed 1 step.
But if I follow 30 Closed Cab PU advice, then it should be step 8.
'Or leave the ignition switch off, choke rod pulled out for 2 -3 revolutions of the motor, stop cranking. Choke Rod in and hit the starter again. '
I did hook starter straight to battery, old starter spun about twice as slow as the newer one that I have. I will check grounds as I see those cause a lot of issues, the cables look pretty new. Will also check for ground from frame to trans.
Starting technique that I know,
1. open gas valve
2...
When I purchased the truck I was told that it does not have the multiplate clutch by the mechanic that had been working on it. The bendix drive looks to be the same as what is on the other starter that I have and plan to install.
I do not think it is a battery issue as I have the battery on a...
So I got the chance to purchase a 1928 open cab truck from a friend whose father had the A and then passed on due to cancer, so guess what? I bought it. The truck did run and drove ok without any issues. The po did put a new wiring harness in it I just had to finish it, hook up stoplight switch...
