I purchased a spring set from Sacramento Vintage Ford, which claims to lower the car an inch and a half in the front and two and a half inches in the rear.
I thought that an inch and a half in the front would be fine, but two and a half inches in the rear may be too much.
I could always have...
Thanks for your reply Jim,
I'll make some Hardwood blocks at the right height for the eyes to line up. There's a lot of weight up front, it should slide across the axle easy enough.
The rear might be a little tricky though.
But maybe I'm putting the cart ahead of the Horse.
Any thoughts...
The Guys at Sacramento Vintage claim it can be done without using a spreader or adapters. Has anyone accomplished the task under these conditions in their own garage with success?
Thanks Bob,
Is it possible to do the job without the spreader?
Some have suggested using a block to set the proper height on one side after putting the pin through the eye on the other side.
Attach the bracket at the top of the spring, then slowly let the weight of the car down on the spring...
Thanks Joe!
I'll give it a go. Is there an adjustment other than bending the float to get the 1" needed? I had a brand new carb and it leaked internally. The shut off valve at the gas tank leaked a little, but I could not stop the carb from leaking. I traded the carb back to the source for...
Thanks!
All of my '30 wheels are out more than 1/4 inch. I would prefer to keep my original wheels for sure.
Who does wheel corrections in The Sacramento Valley?
Coker ads show Model A Wheels, welded spokes for $365.00 and adjustable spokes for $295.00.
My thought is to pay the additional $70 per wheel and go with Henry's design.
Does anyone have experience with the adjustable spokes?
What is the proper length speedometer cable housing?
Or, to make a short question long; Coupled with the speedometer, how far should the key on the transmission end of the cable protrude from the end of the housing?
I think may have ended up with an aftermarket housing which has...
 All four of my rims wobble quite a bit. The worst is about 1/4 inch.
Is there a way to true up the old ones and are there sources for new old style wheels?
Thanks Guys!
After my chores are done this morning, I'll get back out to the garage for some more fun. I'll take the advice and not even think about adding modern points, I might even have a new set original style points still in the box somewhere on the shelf.
In addition to my test light...
