    headlight bar patch

Greetings to all and I hope you're all safe. I am working on a 1931 fender that needs a patch panel where the headlight bar is attached. I have the patches and they have indentations in them (dimples). Can anyone tell me if the front end of the patch tilts up or down? Any help is much appreciated.

    Need help with subrails

Thanks for the reply, rotorwrench. I did check out Vince Falter's site and he mentioned he had some drawings of the hole locations. If I could locate all of the holes first it would make it much easier to drill off the car and then weld the half subrail and then fit the body. Thanks for your...

    Need help with subrails

Good morning, all. I am in the process of putting my 1930 coupe back on the road after 40 years storage outside in Michigan. After removing the body I found that the subrails were MIA. I ordered a new set of half subrails and when I received them I noticed that there were no hole locations...

    Another generator question

Thanks all. I'll check it out this afternoon. Tom- if a field isn't energized, will it still motor?

    Another generator question

Thanks for the quick replies! The motoring is slow and controlled. Maybe Tom can chime in if he has one like this.

    Another generator question

Hello, all. I have a 1931 coupe, all stock that is giving me fits. The generator will not charge. It was charging just fine then all of a sudden quit. I am getting nothing from the output stud and when I jump the cutout the points close. When I disconnect the fan belt and run a wire from the...

    Another Model-A Workshop planning thoughts....

Great offer, Brent! I have two suggestions. 1) Brake drum replacement. 2) Installing patch panels.

    Opinions on gaskets

I'm installing the transmission and bell housing on my '30 coupe and got to the outer u-joint covers (clamshell). I have both types of seals, cork and felt and wonder which type is best to use. Any opinions?

    Removing a solid top

Thanks Brent, for taking the time to post those pictures. They are really helpful. I'm gonna remove the insert and post some pics. Paul- I did consider just hiding the solid top, but there is a lot of hidden rust and I need to separate the body halves in order to clean/repair. As always...

    Removing a solid top

Sorry, maybe used the wrong term. Coupe has cowl lamps and has the block and wiring for a dome lamp. Anyway, got into it a little today and melted away some lead. It's welded for an inch or so every 6 or 8 inches. Brent- I can take an abrasive wheel and probably get the sheet metal off. I...

    Removing a solid top

Hi, all! I'm in the process of restoring a 1930 special coupe. Problem is that someone in the past has installed a solid top. It is leaded in. Because of this, I can't separate the two body halves in order to sandblast/clean and prep. This being said, does anyone have any suggestions on how...
