    1949 Ford

I have a 1949 Ford Custom for sale. Flathead V-8 with 3 spd transmission w/ overdrive. New gas tank, brakes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, king pins, steering linkage. Will get pictures up as soon as possible. Thats not a dent on the hood, its just the way the picture was taken.

    Master Cylinder

The washers I have are completely flat and also seem too thick. Copper washers used for brakes are usually thinner. I'll try another set of washers and see if that helps.

Changing the throw out bearing on a 1949 Ford three on the tree. Can’t find the clutch fork anti rattle spring. It’s just a small u shapped wire that holds the clutch fork tight from rattling. No one sells it anymore. Is there a replacement for the original?

Turn the picture, the hole is on the bottom of trans. Below speedo cable.

The hole is right below the speedometer cable entering the trans. That is leaking fluid quite a bit. This may sound funny but for a quick fix I installed a tapered 3/8 wood plug and it stopped the leak. I’ll try and get a picture.

I have been driving it like that for a year. I know I need bushings but I could always shift it until now.

Having hard time shifting my three on the tree. Found that one of the shifter levers is actually leaning against the clutch adjustment rod. Even after adjusting the rod it still hits. Only thought I have would be to bend the rod. Does anyone have another solution? thanks

    1949 Transmission

I found out that the hole had a plug installed at the factory. I dont have to remove the trans anymore because I found the leak was coming from that hole. thank you everyone who tried to help. I need now to plug this hole.

Found out there should be a plug in that hole from the factory. I guess I’ll have to fabricate something to seal it.

There is a hole at the back of the three speed transmission on the left side that is not threaded. I am leaking fluid from that hole. Also when i go thru the gears I see a rod moving back and forth in that hole. Is this normal and should that hole have a plug in it?
