    coil resitor bypass

I have a Alternator and the digital meter under the dash is about 7V. But I think I will run some leads to the coil so can monitor the coil voltage while driving. that should answer that question. Great suggestion.

    coil resitor bypass

All good ideas and solutions but I'm still confused why the problem went away after shorting the resistor out for only 3-4 seconds . It couldn't have cooled off that fast and then it would have reheated and the problem return. I'm going to look at the resistor closer and replace the capacitor...

    coil resitor bypass

Great minds think a like! Maybe it was the Eclipse effect? Looking forward to your results. _____________________________ I need to get this resolved as I have the 40 pickup for sale and don't want it to happen to a perspective buyer!

    coil resitor bypass

Not a bad idea but why would it 'recover' after a few seconds hotter coil voltage? It's actually a fairly new capacitor (less than 100 miles) but I have had them go bad quickly. Probably wouldn't hurt to swap it out also.

    coil resitor bypass

I am wondering if any of you have experienced this problem with the coil and external resistor. For reference it is on a 1940 Pickup, 6v pos gnd. I replaced the resistor with one from MACs and really have not had a problem. Because of an occasional 'Hard Start" I added a bypass switch across the...

    40 PU trans cover

Thanks guys. So the way I have the plate right now is normal? Just add the rubber filler? Was there a rubber shift boot on the originals? I can't find any pictures that show this area. I was also thinking of getting the rubber floor mat from MACS but kind of pricey.

    40 PU trans cover

My 40 Pickup interior floor cover for the transmission does not cover the transmission correctly. I have tried numerous rubber boots and none are large enough to cover the opening. Did the replacement cover get cut out too much? What about the oval opening on the top section? Any pictures or...

    Early V8 Oil Filter Return

Here is a picture of a 'Kit' I found if that helps anybody picture what I am looking for. I don't need the kit just the hose and bolt.

    Temperture sending units

Thank you. Since I am thinking of adding a gauge set, do you know of any 6 Volt gauges (to monitor charging) in the same style? All I can find are 8-18 v models.

    Temperture sending units

My 40 V8 flathead has one temperature sending unit installed and the other hole is plugged with a bolt. My temperature gauge says I am running hot. Do I need the other, 2 leaded sensor, for my gauge read correctly? I was also considering installing a after market sensor and gauge to double...

    Early V8 Oil Filter Return

I am looking for the Banjo connection and hollow bolt used on early V8 (1940) for the oil return line from the filter. Either for the fuel pump or valve cover instillation.

    sending unit 40 ford instructions

The resistance of the sending unit is different than what the 6V gauge wants. I put a 33 ohm resistor in parallel with the sender. while not 100% accurate in gets you in the ballpark.
