Need help identifying & sourcing this bushing for 46 runningboard mount

woodiewagon46, yes I'm in the NWC and in the Santa Cruz Woodies, I'm in the membership directories. Thanks for your offer to help address my questions. I've been wondering about how the stainless trim strips are removed from the running boards. Once the running board is removed from the car I...

Need help identifying & sourcing this bushing for 46 runningboard mount

Thanks woodiewagon46, I also thought I might need to resort to stacks of fender washers or similar as a solution, or maybe a combination of a shock absorber bushing sandwiched between two washers. Have you also taken apart and re-covered your runningboards? I've got a bunch more questions to...

Need help identifying & sourcing this bushing for 46 runningboard mount

Thanks all for your suggestions, I'm looking through the Steele Rubber website and also looking at all kinds of shock absorber bushings that might do the trick. HOWEVER, in a pile of old parts that came with my car years ago, I found one that had been removed. Turns out these are solid steel...

Installing stainless trim on 46 runningboards

Hi woodiewagon46, I'm located on the west coast and we just held Woodies on the Wharf. Attendance was around 145 cars, down from the usual 170ish. It was a beautiful day with beautiful cars, and the people weren't bad either. I hope you have a good show at Mystic. I've attached a couple photos...

Need help identifying & sourcing this bushing for 46 runningboard mount

My 46 wagon is missing three of these rubber bushings that go between the runningboard and the support bracket attached to the frame. I've attached photos with & without the bushing. Does anyone know what part number this is? Does anyone know of a source for these?

    6 Volt Alternator Install ? ? ? ? ?

Thank you both, Denny & RKS, for your comments. I'm got a 6v Optima battery in my 46 and use the battery tender to keep it charged. I think you've both convinced me that changing over to an alternator would not be worth the cost for me. Thank you!

    6 Volt Alternator Install ? ? ? ? ?

Thanks, CAS3, for your experience. I'm running a stock 46 station wagon and only put on a few hundred miles a year. The car is 6v pos ground, has its generator, and I keep it on a battery tender when its not being driven. I'm debating whether I ought to change over to an alternator at all; I'm...

    6 Volt Alternator Install ? ? ? ? ?

Yes, I'm hoping someone who has been using one of Ed Whitney's 6v alternators can comment on how well it's been working and how well it's held up. Thanks, RH

    6 Volt Alternator Install ? ? ? ? ?

Hi, I've got a 46 Ford running 6v pos too, and came across your thread on Fordbarn about converting from a generator to an alternator. Back in 2010 you decided to go with Ed Whitney's alternator. How has that unit held up for you all these years? Did you feel that making the switch from a...
