Luckily, I decided to "try" Howell's by buying a few sets of "Cotter Pins". NEVER saw the pins. I've called literally DOZENS of times, NEVER got an answer. I am looking for truck bed sides for an A and have a few questions about the parts they offer. Not many folks supply just the sides so I...
All,
Great information! Another question arises however. People are saying that the King Pins available now have significant variation in diameter. My understanding has been that the original KP's were .814 dia. An adjustable KP reamer seems like the answer however many don't like the adjustable...
Afordman31, thank you so much for posting those instructions! I bought two sets of bushings so if I screw the first set up I can determine if I want to take what I've learned and try it on the second set or... bite the bullet and have a machine shop hone them!
All,
I had been searching for a proper King Pin (bushing) reamer and now have two. The problem is that I am still perplexed as to how to use them properly to maintain "center". The first one came in a dandy little box that clearly indicates it is for Model A Fords (and a list of others.) The...
I've been trying to get ahold of the guys at A&L Parts Specialties and I get a recording saying the number (860-693-2620) is no longer in service. Does anyone know what is happening over there? I know Al passed and Allen his son took over but I can't track 'em down.
To all who've asked, the machine shop removed too much metal from the Upper bushings. Not sure how that happened. Also, Bratton's does not carry them (at the moment.) Apparently Snyder's has them (at the moment.) I had checked EVERYWHERE before posting so I'm guessing they only list them when...
I saw an old thread about this but didn't really find a good answer (other than taking my spindles to a machine shop for honing. Tried that and got back screwed up parts!!) Does know where to find a suitable reamer for Model A king pins? I see where Speedway offers a 0.812 reamer but it would...
I have a '28 Roadster and while I love the car, I actually prefer the '30-'31's. Not only are they a little bigger inside, the windshield stantions are a bit nicer. Overall just a bit more "elegant" car. IMHO.
