Model A stays in family 75 years

My 28 roadster pickup has also been a single family car. Was originally bought in Missoula, MT to my (now ex) wives great great grandpa. Her family joked about how it was the second truck in Missoula, because her great great grandpa ordered the first and had the first one sold out from under...

Starter rebuild recommendations near Portland Or.

Its the type 3 with the 2 long bolts and a single screw holding the field coils. Its on an august 1928 car. Would a type 4 fit if the rebuild takes a bit? Whom would you trust going through it? Rob

Starter rebuild recommendations near Portland Or.

Hi all, I have a mid 1928 starter (1/2" shaft) that is really weak and I need to have it rebuilt. Are there any recommendations for places near Portland Oregon to do this? My guess is the armature needs work, but I'm no expert on starters. Rob

    Fan Shroud

The black on is the same as I have on a Aug 28' Roadster pickup. The round bottom channel makes me think that was is original.

    Paint Sanding

Rule of thumb i have heard from my painting buddies is always sand down to p400-p600 before applying base/sealer. Any more than that the paint will not have much to adhere to.

    Paint

I did basecoat/cleat coat in my garage. I used PPG Deltron/PPG Velocity clear. I used a cheaper Hitech Hi build direct to metal epoxy primer that worked well under it. I just hung plastic and ventalated it really well with fans and filtered the air leaving the garage. If there is any...

My best friend growing up has about 10 years painting experience at a local truck plant, but not alot in the past 7 or 8 years. It didnt take much to have him come over and help me out...in fact one time during a frustrating night doing fender work, i mentioned to him that I might take it in...

    1928 Roadster Pickup Build

Folks, Just thought id share my rebuild over the winter. I had rust coming through and body work needed, so i went for it. It turned into more than that after rust was found under the frame paint and everything came apart and rebuilt (minus the motor). At least i verified the frame stamp...

Here is a youtube video of the parade model A's. They start around the 1:25 mark. I ended up coming over and it was a great time. The after parade picnic was great fun also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUAuwgOEck8 -Rob
