    Identify this backing plate please

I'm trying to identify by Ford part number this rear backing plate. It has the Ford script in the casting and "KLR" in the casting, but no part no. that I can find. It appears to be a Lockheed style '39-41 based on everything except the bottom pivot pins, which are fixed. All of the info I...

    Steering Wheel luster

Goo B Gone works well to remove any grime that has been coming off onto your hands and, when rinsed off with a damp cloth and dried, leaves a clean satin finish. You can polish and buff from there if desired.

    Water Jacket Help needed

With the head off, one trick I stumbled upon was using a telescoping magnet to poke down into the water jacket in the corner near the #4 cyl. You would not believe the pile of rusty crud I pulled out of that area. Just keep poking the magnet down around the corner and end of the engine block...

    Would you remove/replace these studs?

Thanks everyone. Thanks Pete for enlarging my picture. I'm just replacing the head gasket, so I'll clean up the studs and defer the replacement for if and when I do a major rebuild. I did see some good info on cleaning the water jacket and I'll be doing that.

    Would you remove/replace these studs?

After my water pump debacle (other thread today), I'm skittish about removing the studs on my Model B 4 cyl head. I squirted them with rust buster about 6 times over several days, then put an induction tool on one of the studs, heated it for about a minute. The base of the stud was glowing...

'33 Model B Water Pump Debacle - What do you think?

I understand, Pete. "Don't [screw] with it" I've heard about Skip the pump guru. At this point, I'm looking for a decent casting that I can rebuild with parts from Dave Renner. He graciously spent time with me on the phone today, looking at pictures and thinking through options. What a great...

    New Member/"New" Truck

I like the look of your truck. Mine was fully restored when I bought it and I love it, but I also sort of covet a truck with a good patina and some character. Flathead Ted Floaters are a relatively easy upgrade and good bang for the buck. I put them on my '33 Model B and at the speeds I...

    Thoughts on this Hobby

My brother got me into vintage vehicles. He had a 46 Sedan as a daily driver and I remember hanging out with him in the bedroom we shared, poring through Hemmings classifieds. My first car was a partially restored '39 Plymouth that I bought with my college fund, worked on and drove, and sold...

'33 Model B Water Pump Debacle - What do you think?

I’d appreciate thoughts on what I’m dealing with and the best way to proceed. I purchased a 1933 Model B pickup (Model 46 engine) from a friend whose Dad restored the vehicle in the 1990s. He was a pretty accomplished mechanic, having restored several early Fords and he also built and raced...

    Update on Ol' Ron

I'm a relative newcomer, cruising these forums for a little over a year, but my attention is always drawn to posts with Ron's avatar. I've gained a lot of knowledge from him and more than a few laughs. He'll be missed.

    Hey Fellas... Some Clarification...

Glad to see that the site remains focused on sharing knowledge about Fords.
