    59ab hard to turn over

Just got the re-built starter back from the shop and put it on the truck. The engine starts readily with all spark plugs in place. The shop said that there was an internal ground problem that they discovered and repaired. Thanks again for the helpful thoughts and comments!

    59ab hard to turn over

Just pulled the starter and took it to a machine shop. The load test suggested the starter was bad as it failed each of the 3 times they tested. I’m having it rebuilt and will post a note when I get it back in the truck. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and thoughts!

    59ab hard to turn over

    59ab hard to turn over

Thanks! The battery is brand new - Napa Legend 650 CCA. I’ll have them check it for me, though.

    59ab hard to turn over

The motor turns easily with all the plugs out. The starter also spins the motor easily with all the plugs removed.

    59ab hard to turn over

The front seal looked like rope that was impregnated with white rubber. It came with the gasket kit.

    59ab hard to turn over

Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question. I just replaced the gaskets on my oil pan to stop an oil leak. After putting in the new seals and gaskets, it won’t turn over. If I remove 5 of the spark plugs, it turns over and runs for about a minute before shutting down. Recharging the...

    Dual carb linkage

I have a ‘46 PU with a 59AB engine and a single 2-bbl carb. For no other reason than to add to the looks of the engine, I want to switch to a dual carb setup. There are tons of pictures online showing the driver’s side linkage, but I want to retain the original hard throttle line and control...

    Need help finding bolt

Hi, Guys - I'm trying to locate a replacement banjo bolt that attaches the wiper and distributor advance vacuum lines to the carburetor. My truck is a '46 half ton with a V8 and I haven't been able to find this bolt in the normal catalogs.
