How to remove bell housing from 47 sedan

OK. Oil pan has to move. So, the next question is: Can I lower the oil pan enough to get the flywheel out without removing the exhaust crossmember or raising the engine?

How to remove bell housing from 47 sedan

While I've got the transmission out of Old Henry for repair I wanted to remove the flywheel to get resurfaced and balanced. Don't know why I didn't notice before getting the flywheel off of the crankshaft that it was too big to get through the hole it needed to leave through but I didn't. As...

Pursuant to recent inquiries, I repost this Bryce Canyon and All American Road trip from a decade ago that I just did again a couple of months ago. Just didn't take any new photos or videos since it was a re-run. Enjoy

    47 popping out of gear

I've got my transmission apart on my 47 sedan to replace the cluster gear that had 3 broken teeth. At this time, I would like to fix the problem with my transmission popping out of 2nd gear, and even sometimes 1st gear, when using those gears to hold back going down a hill. What can be done to...

How to get the transmission off the crankshaft? 47 V8

FALSE ALARM!! Thankfully, it turned out to not be as complicated, scary, and hopeless as I and others had thought. We just had not raised the engine and transmission up high enough for the rear of the transmission to clear the cradle it had rested on. Once we got it up high enough it came...

How to get the transmission off the crankshaft? 47 V8

As I've done some more research (which I shouldn't need to do since I've done this job at least 4 times before but no longer remember it) I see that the transmission shaft has got to be pulled out of the clutch spline socket, the clutch being attached to the flywheel and removed from that after...

How to get the transmission off the crankshaft? 47 V8

It's not the frame crossmember I'm referring to. It's the rubber coated cradle that the transmission is bolted to. Do I have to remove that to get the transmission out?

How to get the transmission off the crankshaft? 47 V8

Do I need to remove the frame crossmember that supports the rear end of the transmission to remove the transmission? Or, just the two bolts that hold the back end of the transmission to that crossmember?

How to get the transmission off the crankshaft? 47 V8

We've got the transmission totally disconnected (all bolts and other connections removed.) We've been able to separate it from the engine about 3/4" but is seems to be stuck and won't move any more. We've pried around the separation to try to advance it but no progress. Any ideas?

    Valve stem size??

I think I found the first answer. Is it TR 15? Still trying to find them.

    Valve stem size??

What is the correct valve stem size for the 600-16 inner tubes for my 47 sedan? I just bought the only tubes Summit Racing sells and the valve stems were TR13 size, too little for the hole in my rims. I've bought tubes with the correct size years ago but forget the size. Also, where else can I...

    47 V8 ignition mystery

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Oh, glorious day! Thanks to dear good ol' Doc Charlie, Old Henry is back on the road in full power, all 8 cylinders firing 100%! I just drove him a 50 mile round trip up the mountain and back just to be sure it wasn't a dream. It wasn't. I'd almost forgotten how great...
