    Shout out to Paul Shinn

Sometimes i wish we had a simple "LIKE" button. Paul, you are a humble man with a iPhone, driven by great enthusiasm. You just might get me into a A--I helped a friend over 65 years ago on his 1930 Delux coupe with rumble seat. I learned lots of lessons--among them screw drivers are not...

    Boring a 260

The answer is "no". you cannot bore the 260 out to 289. I believe the core centers on the 289 were shifted a little above and below the centerline to gain enough wall thickness to permit the 289 bore.

    Scam

I used that request for a picture of the part and a tape measure of a critical dimension and the seller said he did not have a camera or a tape measure. After I told him "no sale" he became abusive. I asked him if that was a successful sales technique for him.

SHORTDOOR--Vendors can only sell what they have. Don't be too hard on them--some are knowledgeable experts and some are, well, "salesmen". To guard against misinformation, you need to become the expert, and know what questions to ask and what are the correct answers. ( This applies to much more...

    Dodge vs Ford

" My Forty Years With Ford" is an excellent resource written by a man who was there and saw a lot. Sorenson mentions the contributions made by the Dodge brothers, but insists that Mr Ford did all the engineering. The recent trend to give credit to the Dodge bothers for engineering on the early...

Introduction and What Do I have Here?

Welcome to the Ford Barn, Dave. THIS SATURDAY there is a car flea market not far from you. The AACA Chesapeake Region has their annual flea market at the Howard County Fairgrounds. Past experience is that there will be Flathead people--as well as the guys who feel the need to push the season...

Only if he was silly enough to preserve the video evidence.

Easiest way to get my truck up to like 65 or so on the highway

What tires are you running? Can you fit larger diameter tires? It seems as if you are running pretty close to where peak torque is generated. Is that a problem with Y blocks? I thought running near peak torque RPM would be a good idea.

    Remove Oil Pump

Have you heard of a "tap Destroyer"? I had occasion ( actually 2) to utilize this tool. ( This was part of the lesson that you never chase threads with a dry tap!) The one I saw had a magnetic base and sort of like a drill press-but really heavy duty--I assume to maintain alignment. The...

Installing back glass in '38 pickup.

I am "helping" a friend get his '38 pickup back together. Last Fall we tried to install the rear glass. I had convinced him to get a fresh gasket as the old one was hard as wood. The install seemed to go OK, except for one little place where the glass just seemed to stop. Of course, in...
