    One inch wide insert bearings

Pulled and engine apart. Two observations. 1) It has insert bearing on the rods. The inserts were centered in the rod journal but were only one inch wide, not the usual width of the rod. 2) There is machined welds on each side of the rods and rod caps to replace the babitted side thrust...

Welting on a 29 roadster pickup.

I have a 1929 roadster pickup. Is beaded welting installed between the door posts and the front quarter panels in the same manner as between the gas tank and the cowl? At present it does not appear to have beaded welting - only a thin tape like material without a bead.

Repairs to top iron nailing material

I believe the original nailing material inside of the top irons of a 1928/29 Model A roadster was leather. I have a set of irons where this material is rotted or missing. What have folks done to repair or replace this material. Thx all, I would appreciate any info on this.

What vacuum should a good Model A engine pull at say 40 miles per hour. At Idle my engine pulls a steady 18. At 35 - 40 it drops to above 10.

I believe I have done that--does that happen when you hook it to run it like a motor? I have also connected the field separately--- negative to lead and positive to ground as well I have also checked the connection on the brush holders to the frame etc.
