Thanks for the reply. The 1931 Slant Window uses a different material in the bottom metal channel. Other Model A's use a black neoprene bedding material that swells when oil is applied. This swelling helps to hold the three pieces together. This rubber material for the Slant Window model is not...
I have 6 new glass side windows to install in my '31 Slant Window Model A. The bottom of each glass panel fits in a metal channel that is lined with a rubber molded piece. (Purchased a roll of this rubber from Snyders) What type of glue / sealant should I use to hold these three pieces...
Thanks for your reply ...I should have noted this is for a 31 slant window. ..on top of the back of the front seat a metal channel is bolted to the seat. The material in this U-shaped channel is gone ..was used as a tacking media. I thought this plastic strip I bought goes in the channel...
I am having the same issue. Did you find the solution?? I thought I lost the wood piece(s) that holds the springs in place? Someone said there are just straps that are tacked to the tack strip that hold the springs in place ? Maybe someone will post some pictures. Also a picture of the...
Thanks for the pics and the comments. I made some wood strips to put in place. Will check the height to make sure they don't interfere with the bottom cushion. Using beech wood Suppose to be good for tacking. No splitting Thanks again
Top of front seat has a channel for a tack strip. Any suggestions on how to install a new plastic tack strip into the metal channel ? I tried opening one of the crimped ends and drawing it through. Didn't get far. I don't want to distort the channel too much to get this insert in place...
I also notice that the left and right sides of the seat bucket are not stamped the same. Tabs are in different positions. Does anyone have some info on the reason for this ? I can post some pics ..Thanks in advance
Thanks Herb. I think the slots were used to tack the upholstery around the bottom of the seat. The rivets where there to hold a tacking strip in place on each side of the seat. Just my guess. Will see if I hear any other comments Thanks for you input
I am reupholstering the front seat of my 1931 Slant Window Model A On the inside of the sides the steel tub there are four rivets with slots on the floor of the tub. I imagine there should be a piece of wood covering the slots and held in place by the rivets. Is this correct? Any pictures...
