same prob. when i had to replace engine last aug. i did what kube said an put 3/4 spacers under trans mounts to raise it up a bit. love your trips you take. i put a lot of miles on my merc too. reguards dick t.

are there any sure ways to do this. i want to replace top bushing on steering shaft.. the wire is inside a larger loom. this is a 40 merc coleum. if i pull the plate at bottom of steering box will the oil drain out. i am trying to get a little eazyer stearing. reguards dick t.
