try a little grease to help slide them on. will be easier to remove in the future.

Not worried about spark TO coil used jumper. With coil and battery on bench ran neg to coil top ( ign) pos to cond ground and touched spring to cond ground. No spark . Tried same with spare coil and got spark . Looks like first coil no good. Strange thing is I tried the second coil and had no...

I have no spark while cranking and in my original post I asked if a bad condenser could cause this. Car was running and shut down as if the ignition was turned off.

i have done this and no spark. i have also measured the point resistance with points closed and got almost zero.

as a lad i recall my dad taking a shovel of hot coals from the coal furnace and tossing them under the engine when car wouldnt start in the winter, he had a very bad temper and didnt want to be late for work. i dont remember if it worked.
