Juice brakes - gap between hub and drum?

Forums like this one, with such helpful people are great - Thank you guys! John, you nailed it. It was issue 1, but it was a bit difficult to explain. Now I feel reassured and will order the Lincoln style drums, and hub center spacers. To be on the safe side I will also make spacers for the...

Juice brakes - gap between hub and drum?

I'm going to mount 1940-48 juice brakes on my Model A with 1932 wire wheels. With the original drums the outer rim of the wheel hub rests squarely against the side of the drum, however with the type of new 1940-48 drums I'm thinking of buying there is a gap. This does not seem right. I will...

    Strange Leak From Clutch Housing

Thank you all for your knowledge! I was considering if this was something I could deal with myself, or if it should go back to the guys that restored it, and it has to go back - and they have agreed to fix it.

    Strange Leak From Clutch Housing

There is a thin oil film on the flywheel. If oil comes via the bolt to the right, which it obviously does, could the bolt be the same source for the oil that ran down the front outside of the flywheel housing, before I sealed that leak with silicone on the outside - in the area between the fly...

    Strange Leak From Clutch Housing

Hi! Here is what I see when I take off the flywheel. There is oil on the bolt to the right, not on the left bolt. There are oildrops to the right on the black plate, under the bolt. No oil drops to the left. There is oil in the recess/gap between black plate and red cap - but NO oil under the...

    Strange Leak From Clutch Housing

Thank you. I will check the paper gasket tonight. The engine has new modern style insert bearings and modern type seal at the rear - it is completely restored (new cam etc), I´m hoping for something forgotten or not aligned.

    Strange Leak From Clutch Housing

Thank you Marshall! But would/could a missing, or ill fitting, paper gasket also lead to a leak via the clutch housing?

    Strange Leak From Clutch Housing

The engine is rebuilt, but before I have it torn down again, I wonder if anyone recognizes this leak? When the engine was warmed up oil began to run down the from of the clutch housing, down the flat side facing the oil pan, from the joint between the engine and the clutch housing. The bolts...

    Play in U-joint normal?

Hi, There is lateral, or side-to-side play, in my U-joint (that is - the center of the front axle does not have to align with the center of the rear axle exactly). It almost seems like it was intended to be that way when looking at the surfaces of the bearing. Is this correct? //Marcus

Model A rear end to an EAB?

I'm considering fitting a 1952 EAB engine into my 1930 Fordor, together with a 39 gear box. Is it possible to use the original rear end and drive shaft, if I switch to a higher gear ratio ring and pinion? /Marcus

Hammering engine noise - what could it be?

Had to check what PITA means :) It makes sense. It sounds like it comes from the middle of the engine, but it sort of feels like it comes from the gearbox region. Can't wait to pull the engine, despite it being a PITA... /Marcus
