Bruce you can get some good tips on restoring this car at Steve's Auto Restorations he is doing a 4 door as I write this. I was glad you decided to go with the Big Block Chevy and Auto trans. I would limit the top chop to not more then 3 inches.- m.e.pouncy

33/34 ford truck fenders

weak spark/no start
HELP. I have a rebuilt 53 Ford Flathead with a Mallory Unilite Electronic Distributor. Set on TDC. New Everything including Carbs. Engine has fired but wouldn't continue to run. Weak yellow spark at plug. Bench tested Coil 12v.(switched to 12 volt) 12volts on + to ground 2 volts on - to ground...- m.e.pouncy

I recommend you replace it with a dual line fuel cell and put a 2012 Ford Coyote engine with a 6 speed in it..maybe a 4" chop...just sayin...- m.e.pouncy

flathead fuel problem
Helmet air cleaners,#42 jets and power valve block offs all recommended and sold to me from Flathead Jack..Today I drove it for the first time nice...next I'll redo the fuel pickup from the tank. The helmet air cleaners don't allow enough air. We would set the carbs up rev it up ,idle then...- m.e.pouncy

To All my friends here on Ford Barn Thank You I did what Charlie from NY said, and I took off the Helmet Air Cleaners from "F lathead Jack" it runs great the new carbs from Dennis Carpenter were nice except the jets won't come out through the access plugs. Thanks again for all the help.- m.e.pouncy

Thanks I'll take off the carbs and change the jets and reistall the power valves and leave off the air cleaners and set vacuum at 4.5 and turn down the pressure to 2.5 and try it...the worst thing is I have the identical engine etc. in a 34 Ford Pickup I'm putting together..argh Thanks guys- m.e.pouncy
