    '32 Zenith choke rod?

Thanks folks. It seems as though the problem on this car is that once you set the GAV via the cable, the cable seems to work its way back to a position that interferes with the proper running of the car, like it has some kind of "memory" - what could be going wrong here?

    '32 Zenith choke rod?

I have been asked by a friend to assist with rebuilding their '32 Zenith carb, but the thing that puzzles me is - does the '32 ("Model 'B'") have a metal choke rod similar to a Model 'A'? This car is fitted with a cable, which does not seem right. I am a Model 'A' person, so I don't really know...

    Rebuilt starter spins ant-clockwise

Thanks to all who offered advice on this. We have found the problem. Following Werner's lead that the brushes were in the wrong place, I took a working starter off my other 'A' and compared the two - voila! the end plate on the one that we were struggling with had the brush holders mounted in...

    Rebuilt starter spins ant-clockwise

I need to add that the field coils that we put in were brand new from Snyder's.

    Rebuilt starter spins ant-clockwise

    Rebuilt starter spins ant-clockwise

I have rebuilt the starter motor, and when we tried to start the car, the starter motor spins but the Bendix doesn't engage. When we took the starter motor off the car and put it in a vice, attached the battery, and then we saw that it spins the wrong way. What have we done wrong? Also, are all...

    Headlamp rim clip issue

Has anyone got a bright suggestion for fitting the headlamp rim clip into the top of the headlamp bucket? One of my old ones snapped in two, and the replacement clip is worse than a Chinese puzzle - I can get the "lip" to come through the slot at the top, but the piece that should grip on the...

    Headlamp bucket question

Ok folks, solution found! The bar appears to have been modified somewhere in its past. One of our club members kindly brought me a standard headlight bar, and lo and behold, the cups are tilted forward as one would expect, and the headlamp buckets fit perfectly. Thanks to all who offered the...

    Headlamp bucket question

No, the buckets are definitely '28/'29 - they are the pointed at the back, not rounded like '30/'31 The bar is perfectly straight I will check on the distance between the fenders and compare with my "30 Sport Coupe. I'll report back later I'm not sure about the bar if it is different to...
