Isn't the zipper set up with an safety shutoff so it won't fry itself or work if wired wrong? Have one on my 30 Coupe and like it alot.

Just installed one on my 30 Coupe. Thought it looked good and really smoothed the firewall. Time will tell how well it works. However it would be alot of hacking to install like you are thinking and it would end up looking crappy IMO. Spend a little time and do it right.
