Recently picked up a 1946 flathead, and plan to put in a '30 roadster I am building. I would like to keep it a ford transmission instead of going for a s10 transmission. Also Im not in to an automatic transmission. So my question is what would you recommend for a transmission?

In the picture you can see the flat black piece that would be directly underneath the windshield between the gas tank and dash rail. That's what I am looking at trying to find the name of, so searching by correct name would really help. I was thinking it was part of the dash rail but all dash...
