    Oil filter conversion sucks!

On my '56 Tbird, I replaced the leaking spin-on adapter gasket with the gasket that comes with the canister filter. It was thicker and my spin-on adapter no longer leaks. Jim Yergin

    Exhaust system for 1956 Thunderbird

On my '56 Thunderbird, I replaced the exhaust system with one that did not include resonators. Has pipes that run from the mufflers over the rear axle out to the bumper outlets. No need to use resonators old or new. My understanding is that the resonators were added in '56 to make the exhaust...

    Hot idle adjustment screw

I have a Holley 4000 carburetor in my '56 Thunderbird. I cannot see what the hot idle speed adjustment screw pushes against to raise and lower idle speed. Here is a picture of my screw. Am I missing a part or do I just not understand how it works? Thanks. Jim Yergin

    Oil filter adapter question

I solved my leakage problem by using the gasket that comes with the filter for the original canister type. It is much more substantial. Jim Yergin

    '56 Power Steering Cylinder

You may be right but I guess I can only replace what can be replaced and see what happens. Thanks. Jim Yergin

    '56 Power Steering Cylinder

I discovered why I couldn't see the clip ring. Turns out there wasn't one. Some time in the past someone must have taken it apart and never put it back. I now have the seals out. Thanks for all the responses. Jim Yergin

    '56 Power Steering Cylinder

The power steering cylinder on my ‘56 Thunderbird is leaking and I want to replace the seals. The factory manual calls for first removing a snap ring. However, I do not see one on mine or a way to get to it. This is a picture of the piston rod end of my cylinder. Does anyone know how I can get...

    Driving lights

dmsfrr, If wired as the manual directed, you could still accidentally leave the driving lights on without turning the headlights on. The driving lights can be turned on without the headlights being on but the headlights cannot be turned on without the driving lights also being on. I appreciate...

    312 Vs 292 visual differences

According to the Thunderbird Restoration Details and Specification Manual, "[t]he engine casting number is found on the right hand side of the block below the head surface and above the oil filter. ECZ 6015-C casting in most cases indicates a 312 engine. However some of these blocks were...

    Driving lights

Thanks dmsfrr. Not trying for 100% original, just curious as to whether I am correct as to the operation and why it is was designed that way. In other words, why wouldn't a simple on-off switch be sufficient? Jim Yergin

    Driving lights

I am working on a 1956 Thunderbird. It has the optional driving lights installed on the front bumper but it did not have an original driving light switch. I managed to find an original switch but I am not sure as to how the lights are set up. In reviewing the wiring instructions for installing...
