    Engine Stumbling

Folks, I have a question about a small problem I'm having on my 49 Tudor with flathead v8. It has the stock manifold and carb. When I have to stop hard or if I purposely stop quick, the engine will start to stumble. If I have to come all the way to a complete stopp heard, the engine will...

    Hard Starting 1940 85 HP V-8

Mike42, as Mike in AZ indicates, definite check for spark when in this state. I chased what I thought was a spark issue when it was very hot out and motor was hot too, replacing coil, condenser because I thought the spark looked weak and it turned out to be a worn out fuel pump, which did...

Using A computer...when did you start?

On a Varian 620i main frame with 11 inch Ampex tape decks and 2 k of core memory, in 1978. Next was a Commodore 64 and HP 1000 E series main frame. Fun stuff.

    Broken part

I had the threads strip out on mine. Found a front master cylinder banjo bolt from my 85 Harley that was perfect fit. Just needed to finish drilling all the way through and size it on the outside to press in the hose nipple.

    Stacks and Stones

If you look at K&N filters real close, they look like layered gauze. You might be able to do something like that then spray it with the K&N filter oil to trap the dirt and such.

    Old seat springs

When I restored the 41, there were no rotted or broken springs, so went the route of making the burlap 'socks'. High and lengthy labor and you wonder how many people they had doing this work in the factory. When I did the 49 seats, I had numerous bagged springs in the back seat rotted and...

Are you a Purist or a Realist?

I try to be a purist. It needs to be the original flathead, ******, 6V, stock colors and interior, as stock as I can make it and have it be a regular driver. That's more appealing to me than a street rod or one with a late model engine/****** stuffed into an old car, air conditioning, etc...

    41 FORD questions

I had some interesting experiences when restoring our 41 business coupe. The front shock mounting holes were 41-42 up but the axle as I recall was 40 vintage. I had to make sure I took measurements for anything I bought because it seemed like Ford mixed and matched a few things, or it was such...
