Hi all
I did the post refered to in post 5.
When I did that post I had not yet removed the idle jet. After letting it sit in penatrating oil for a couple of weeks I was able to unscrew it.
So, yes it is screwed in.

Here's an ad from Montgomery Ward Winter sale flyer ending Feb. 28 1929.
I know this is for a T or TT but they may have been made for A and AA as well.
I included the whole page just for fun.

Is the clutch release fork properly riveted to the cross shaft?
If it is loose or the holes are worn then the spring pressure may not be enough to allow the bearing to return.

Hi John
That small hole is the float bowl vent. You may have a weeping float valve.

Hi Neil
I may be wrong but that appears to me to be a 30/31 mirror. I have a 28/29 mirror on my tudor and have no problems.
Check out the following links:

Hope this helps.

As a quick test, if you have a volt meter you can use your starter motor as a load test. Measure the voltage across the battery while you are cranking the starter motor with the ignition off.
If the voltage drops by about 2 volts the battery may have a dead cell.

Please never inflate your tires to the pressure stated on the side wall, this is the maximum pressure. Read your side wall carefully. Check your owner's manual. For the Model A tire pressure is 35 PSI.
