    Radiator Overflow Tube

Eagle, I just read your quote, "There are some that can destroy......." I love that! I have a buddy that helps me a lot and he's like that. His history is that he was a Catapiller mechanic all his life.

    Radiator Overflow Tube

The tube only extends about 6" from the top of the radiator and it is pinched closed. I am going to cut off the end so it will be open and run it all the way to the bottom of the radiator and clear of anything it will shoot onto. Thanks for the help.

I have a 1930 A and the radiator overflow tube has been pinched closed. Is this done for a reason?

    1930 Pitman Arm

Now I would like to tackle my sloppy steering problem. I think it is in that adjustment on the side of the box. Then when I get it corrected I think I want to put that short pitman arm on. First I need to know how long from end to end it the stock one. Mine measures about 8" Does that sound...

    engine misses

I found a misfire that was driving me crazy. I thought it was the timing, points adjustment, coil, carb...nope. It was a little screw that came loose. In the distributor there is an upper plate that the contact points are attached to. One of the two screws came loose below the upper plate...

    VIN number 1930-A

Henry's 31. The number that it was registered in PA is A-2421250. Is there a way to look it up to see if it is a valid number?

    VIN number 1930-A

Bob C, I think you're right. But I sure don't want the CHP to stamp my door frame.

    VIN number 1930-A

I live in CA. I bought a car registered in PA. Here when you register an out of state car the DMV (Dept of Mtr Veh) needs to physically see the car to check out stuff. One of the things is the VIN number. I've heard it is on the frame under the body. The motor has a smooth 3" area in the...

    Pan Gasket

Hey John, I just finished mine....from underneath too. That 3-bolt flywheel cover was the missing link to this project. In all the inquiries, even that 'Les Andrews' manual no mentioned that inspection plate. Once that was resolved it was not too bad.

    Pan Problem

Today I am attempting to install the pan in my 1930-A. Engine is in car so I am working upwards. Here's the question: Should the bellhousing inspection plate be installed after the pan goes on or do I put it on before the pan is secure? I don't find any mention of it in that Les Andrews...

    Pan Gasket

Hello EJ, I am doing the same job on my '30 tomorrow too. I am getting a lot of tips from the people you are talking with. But I came up with this idea. The thread size of the pan bolts is 5/16" So I am going to buy about four pieces of 'all thread' and screw them into the block at different...

    Pan Gasket Install

Thanks, Heneste. This is good to know about the torque. I have the Les Andrews manual right here and he say 20 ft. lbs.

    Pan Gasket Install

1930 A tomorrow I will install the pan. The engine is in the car. Advice: Do I tack the gasket to the pan or the block or both. I am using this Permatex High Tach adhesive. The Les Andrews book says on both sides. That seems pretty sticky.
