Problem solved! Thanks, Rotor, I am so stupid. I had to read what you wrote 3 times before it sunk in. The S terminal is hot. That is what was throwing me. I saw the S terminal was hot and for some reason I thought the wire from the horn was hot. Its not, I just checked it. That and a blown...
Thanks guys, I'll work on it today. Restating the problem, there are three terminals at the relay. B S and H. I get voltage at B and voltage at S. If I leave S unconnected I can ground it off the battery and the horn blows. The problem is I have voltage at S. It should be a ground.
Hi, Just got a 51 Mercury that has been converted to 12 volts. Lots of things weren't, gauges, overdrive and horn. It seems like the wire that comes off the horn button to the relay is hot and should be a ground. Logical since the 6 volt was positive ground now the 12 volt is negative ground...
I don't know. I had the ground running to the transmission bolt. It always cranked. Started at times too. The trouble all began when I cobbled together a new resistor/fuse holder. Made it out of rubber with metal inside, some sort of gasket something or other. Direct short! I looked up and...
I must have voltage because the coil wire is live, but only when I check it by grounding it to the starter switch in the cabin. If I check it by touching any part of the engine or frame it doesn't show any voltage.
It did start about 5 times. Then, the next day it didn't start. i replaced the coil with a known good one from Third Gen. I got a new condenser from Third Gen. Here is my question. Do you think it won't start because I have no ground at the engine? When I touch the coil wire with a multimeter...
Going a lot better. Almost half done. I got into a rhythm of soaping, pushing low with the putty knife and banging with a rubber hammer. It was going so nice that I took a break.
I am having trouble pushing the rubber trim that holds the vinyl top on in the channel. Any tips? I got about 12 inches in and it took about 1 1/2 hours. Going really slow. Now, I am kinda stuck. 1935 Ford.
I am trying to attach the metal piece that goes above the front window. The sun visors mount to it and the windshield wiper controls go through two holes that it has. My question is; What size screws and where or how many? It looks like garnish trim screws will work, the same ones as in the...
I may have the wires on the ignition switch mixed up. One is for the coil, the other, the battery. Can someone please tell me which wire goes to the "high and outside" terminal? It is the higher of the two terminals and is toward the outside of the car. I cannot see Batt or Coil marked anywhere...
