    Spring Perch & Shackle Clearance

mathematically you are correct. it is the closest "drill bit" size to the .571 spec to ream the bushings for the springs and perches. I don't recommend using a drill bit as a reamer.

My coil just died, but would like to retain the original appearance. Just ordered a Petronix replacement. Does anyone have any guidance on how to mount a new coil in an original can? How are you holding it in place? How are you cutting the original can? And what happened to the suppliers...

    The Passing of John Kluttz

So sorry to hear. I've known John & Julie for over 50 years. We would work together for hours every weekend when he first started rebuilding engines and pouring his own babbit. "Loaned" him my KR Wilson fixtures to compliment the ones he was collecting. Going to Hershey together was an...

    Drag Link Lengthening Advice

The shortened pitman arm does NOT change the turning radius. The smallest turning radius is determined by the stops on the back of the spindles hitting the heads on the king pin retaining bolt nuts. It "may" slightly change the position of the sector gear / worm gear being at the point of...

    Continued Starting Issues

Tell us more - you're not getting carbon buildup without combustion - normally from a rich gas mixture or weak ignition. Are you running an air filter restricting air flow? Is this a starting problem, or does it just run poorly ? Where is your GAV control ?

    Newbie Question

Be cautious of people selling NOS parts. Many "sellers" especially ebay, have no idea what they are selling, and will list reproduction and/or used parts as NOS. They also have little knowledge of year of manufacture variations in parts. Lots of knowledgeable people here so ask if in doubt.

My New Model A - Yeah!

Congrats - Looks like it just needs a little buffing!. Judging from the videos, this car has had it's interior replaced, and likely not original paint. Shocks are not original - they appear to be friction shocks. Don't hesitate to ask questions of this group. Lots of experience here.

    overtight axle nuts

Watch this Youtube video and you can fix it this way. I have done one of my axles years ago like this and have had no trouble with it. Be certain to only use new Grade 8 hardened nuts (avail from our vendors). Also be certain to file a nice radius in the axle as shown in the video. You can...
