Cylinder #1 has zero compression. I can see thru the plug hole that one of the valves is operating. I assume the other is stuck open.
What ideas do you guys have to free this valve without removing head or intake manifold?
Thanks for any advice.
'H and H Flatheads' run posts of Facebook often, featuring flathead engines they have recently built. They talk of 'Strombergs from England' as the carbs they use almost exclusively.
Does anyone have a link where they can be purchased?
I purchased David's two 32 Ford Books. They are exceptionally well done and exhaustive.
When ever the two digits 32 appeared in a post on FordBarn, you could be certain that David would respond with the final word.
What a legacy he has left for us.
Thanks guys for the fulsome responses. I will take your advice on this matter.
Re stuff in a 32 gas tank, when I bought my Ford, about 70 years ago, it had been stored in a barn shed for years. The farmers kids had filled the gas tank with turkey pellets. Gobble gobble.
15 years ago I had a local company line the inside of my 32 Ford gas tank. 5 years ago it started peeling off. Three years ago I tried to remove the old lining as best I could and lined it myself with a POR15 product. The POR15 is now flaking off.
This is a huge concern. Must I buy a stainless...
I am a bit confused about this question.
The early 32's had a single bearing in front of the pinion, whereas in the later 32's, the pinion had a bearing on both sides of the pinion...correct?
Are these the bearings we are talking about in this post?
Often, my 32 refuses to start when I use the standard 6V system, but will fire up instantly if I use 12V on the starter only.
Question 1:
How can I set up a neat and simple system that will allow me to apply 12 V to the starter but have the rest of the system remain at 6V? I realize that...
The carb on my 39 Ford flatty is a Ford 59..possibly a 59A.
Any comments on the reliability and dependability of this carb? Apparently it was used on 47 to 48 cars and 46 to 47 trucks.
Was it made by Holley? If I look up a carb kit for this carb, it seems as if a Holley also uses the same...
Concerning Bubba's response....condenser, condenser, condenser....
If you have a good spark at the plugs, it seems to me that the condenser must be fine. Am I wrong about that?
I purchased a pair of peep mirrors hoping they would work on the doors of my 32 5 window. The hardware was too bulky and so they would not work. Can anyone out there tell me who sells Peep mirrors which you know will work on the doors of my 5 window. Thanks in advance!
