The crankcase grenade idea (electric “boost pumps” thru mechanical) has been batted around for years. Given the unreliability of off-shore rebuilds, ethanol gas and parts from God knows sources are the reasons I went all electric years ago.
My Stewert-Warner “thumper” is starting to have issues...
How much play in model “A” u-joint
Friend is working on a Model A and is concerned about the play in the u-joint off the transmission. He claims he has about a 100thou side to side by NO rotational play.
How much is too much?
While up at the home place in Oregone I had a massive shop cleaning. Our daughter has lived there for 20+ years and my stuff was just getting in worse shape. Better for it to go to someone who would use it. At 83 years old my “treasures” weren’t moving forward. I’m pretty confident the drive...

Where are the "Corn-Head" grease guys?
Same place the av-gas no ethanol guys are
Why would guys put a marine type of grease in an automobile situation? Especially grease that is meant to be pumped thru lines to point of service. Jeez, I guess they like paying name-brand prices
What great pictures. Thankx for the trip down memory lane. Damn, we had a great time back then.
I would hope this generation of hot rodders would have similar experiences.
Not too sure what the op meant by “long term” but I have used pump gas in the ’49 since we bought the car 40 years ago and have stored it for 6-10 months many times. Never had an issue but I was anal about a clean tank, 30R7 hoses, and ethanol friendly carb and fuel pump parts.
Yes, I did use...
