Note that the Powergen 92507 and the 9507 are very different items. The 9507 is a proper reduction gear starter. While the 92507 claims to be a high torque version of the stock starter, I very much doubt it.
As advised by others, if it's a stock engine, a workaround using stock ford parts to assemble a 12V starter is your best option.
Lower cost and reliable.
Not your best option but if you have your heart set on a reduction gear starter:
You'll need to do a small wiring job on the starter...
Apologist!?! What do you think I'm apologising for?
OP asked an innocent enough question, and set off a flaming.
Why did I post this?
1. He can run a Powergen if he decides - even though you clearly don't approve.
2. Powergens are not field repairable.
3. Mechanical regulators are often...
There are some pretty strong opinions on alternators here and I can say I’m not a huge fan but they have their place.
Some things to consider:
Generators are a proven solution, but consider also the electromechanical regulator used with a generator set up. Way back when I was a green and...
I have lost count of the number of times the trunklid on my 41 has decided to give me the chop.
Are replacement hinge springs available (and are they any good) or is there another method that I could consider?
Yes, the cylindrical component appears to be the flasher can.
Looks like the PO has set up halogen globes for flashers. I tried this once (pre internet days) after reading in a magazine it was a simple way to get flashing brake lights. Results were a bit ordinary.
Try a good seven wire turn...
Re: Starter bendix doesn’t engage tight
Since I fitted a new clutch and flywheel the reduction starter works fine, so no need to worry about ring gear chamfer.
Also if you ever need to go back to a proper Bendix starter (reduction drives are pretty ugly) you know everything will be OK.
Re: Starter bendix doesn’t engage tight
Because reduction gear starters engage from the front, flywheel clearance is critical.
Turns out my ring gear was not running true on the flywheel and started catching on the starter when running. Fixed now.
