    engine won't turn over

Just made a post and lost the whole thing ? Try again. All good suggestions. I will jump a cable across the solenoid when starting and see what happens. Also will clean all connections, check voltages when turning over the engine and reread and think about the other comments. May try a good...

    engine won't turn over

Some good knowledge on this subject, Thank you. I should mention that after running for roughly 15 minutes and I shut the engine off it won't turn over using the starter button. I took the spark plugs out and it turns over good using the start button. Also could turn over using a hand wrench...

    engine won't turn over

I want to make it clear, the engine runs good it does not stall. It is a 59AB -24 stud engine. After about 15 minutes if I shut the engine off and try to restart it it will not turn over. As I said before, I can use a hand wrench on the front of the engine and turn it over by hand with a lot of...

    engine won't turn over

I was told that if the engine clearances were too tight after heating up it would not turn over using a hand wrench. Also mentioned that if the engine was too tight it would stall and stop turning at a low rpm. It does make you think that it could of been rebuilt with not enough clearances...

    engine won't turn over

The engine sounds fine. It just won't turn over after running for 15 minutes and turning it off. Then trying to start the engine it doesn't turn. I would't think a condenser or coil could be the problem as these come into play after the engine is turning. Yes, it is Starter related. Maybe the...

    engine won't turn over

Wires from battery to solenoid and from there to starter are very large. Like welding cable. With the engine hot it will turn over with the hand wrench with more effect than when it is cold.

    engine won't turn over

24 stud engine with front mounted dist. starts and after running for 15 minutes won't turn over when trying to restart it. It will turn using a wrench. Also tried hooking two 6 volt batteries up to it keeping 6 volts but increasing the ampere and still would not turn over. It is wired through a...

    Brake Switch Mechanical Brakes

Thanks for the replies. I think the new brake switch is OK. I will have to put on the old cloths and climb under the 36 ford and have a look to see how the brake switch works mechanically and is wired.

    Brake Switch Mechanical Brakes

OK-With the brake pedal in the resting position the brake switch plunger is pushed in opening the circuit. When applying the brake pedal the plunger is moved with it's own spring action back to it's closed position. So a new brake switch will be in a closed circuit position when not installed...

    Brake Switch Mechanical Brakes

I have a new brake switch for a 36 ford with mechanical brakes. Is the switch set up with normally open or closed contacts before moving its stem (rod) in ? I tested the switch with a ohm meter with connections at the 2 wire terminals and without moving the switch stem the contacts appear to be...

Street Rodder Mag Flathead Build Pt 2

What issue of Street Rodder was Flathead Pt 2 in ? Also do you know what issue Flathead Pt 1 was in ? Someone said that there was a nice article about a 36 ford restoration in Hemmings. My November and December issues did not have it. What issue of Hemmings if any one knows ?

    59 AB engine rebuild

I think you need the Vacuum Tube Line with end part # 21A-12226 that fits to the manifold connection under the carburetor. The connection on the intake manifold takes the tube with a ring end from the vacuum brake on the distributor and the rubber tube from the windshield wiper. Refer to the...

    37-41 Axle

Thanks for the comments. I kind of do think its a 1940 perch bolt set up for the early stabilizer which isn't seen or talked about much. I would prefer not to change the perch bolts. I have a lot to think about and learn before I can proceed with the axle maintenance and future set up.
