    Some Hershey Photos

This year was the first I missed since 1991. I was glad to see the nice weather for all who could attend. The fall is my favorite time of year and being at Hershey just makes it that much better. I really enjoyed the pictures, thank you for posting them. Kevin

    Brake Rod Alignment?

I am also in the process of finishing a brake job, hopefully this weekend. When I took the rods off they all had been bend in order allow installation. I straightened three and replaced one that was worn half way through were it rubbed on the flat spring. I plan on having to rebend the arc on...

I just keep ruining stuff....two steps forward, one step back.

I broke the first one I installed... Now, I torque in steps of 10 ft-lbs. and do not exceed past 55 ft-lbs. on the goose neck nuts. I have a Hi-comp. head so I do continue to 65 ft-lbs. on the remaining head nuts.

    3 cheers for Hershey!!!

There's nothing quite like it, sights, sounds and smells...It's all good. I'm only a little over 3 hours away so I cannot miss it.

    Best Hershey finds.... 2012

I had a nice day, got my exercise, the weather was kind, a little light dizzle for a short period then the sun came out, I was in a t-shirt in the afternoon. I pick up everything on my list and a few things not. Best deal was a beautiful, complete Marval carb. for Model A, $10. The guy did not...

Took my Dad for a ride in the Roadster...

It sure is fun sharing the old car hobby with dad. I also took my dad out today for a ride in the roadster, and hope to for many years to come. After all, it was his tools I used all those years before I could afford my own. Thanks to all the dads out there...and their tools. :)

    Engine Noise

Re: UPDATE Engine Noise Thank You all...It turned out the new plunger spring was only applying 23lbs. of force on the cam, 12lbs. less then the minimum required. I fabricated a .14" spacer and installed it between the plunger and spring. That increased the force to 36.5lbs. As soon as the...

    Hello from a new guy

Good to see another "A" being saved. The only advice I have for you is don't take to much apart at one time (work on one thing at a time). Layout and label original A parts. Don't throw anything away. Welcome, it's always good to have new members.

Help! It won't run. MORE HELP!!

Check the gas cap is venting properly, maybe try running with it loose.

    Engine Noise

I LIKE IT !…I have a spare cover, to drill and tap. It does not look like a big deal to remove the cover, just support the engine in the front with a floor jack and remove the bolts. If it goes well, maybe next time I’ll try doing it without removing the cover. Thanks for the details.

That's weird, I was thinking this exact thing before. It sure would make future adjustments easy. It must be a little tricky obtaining .006" of end play, the otherway. I suppose the spring would not be doing much with a setup like that.

    Duly noted...Thanks

    Engine Noise

I replaced both spring and plunger when assembling the engine. Based on feedback and some of the engine noise stories I have been reading, I’m starting to think this is the problem most are having. Les Andrews wants 35 to 38 lbs. of force from this spring, I did not see anything about length...

    Engine Noise

I pulled the valve cover, visually everything looks good, I removed the drive gear unit and disassembled. The gear spins freely in the sleeve except for one spot that seems a little gritty, there is no discoloration of the shaft or sleeve due to heat. I noticed that the bore, on the gear end of...
