Took the distributor off last night and put my old one back on.
It looks like I may have a leaking coil. The rotor was covered in a black oil/grease substance which has to be the reason for the spark issues.
Old distributor runs fine so going to send the coil off to Skip today and order some...
Hello all,
I need some assistance troubleshooting an issue with my 36.
To and from the car show today the car was not running smoothly. Felt like a misfire, was sputtering under load and then would run fine again for a brief period before it did it again.
This started after about 15 min of...
Has anyone experienced a leaking fuel pump after winter storage?
It was rebuilt last summer and had no issues. I started it up last weekend and looked to be leaking from the diaphragm. Tightening all the screws helped but still leaking.
Just wonder if this has been seen before and what the...
Its not a new hole. Its just an adapter to the original switch location. I can set it back to stock in 5 minutes. Once I find an original it will be set back. Until then I have dash lights that work.
I would love to find a swap meet that isn't 95% small block related. Next time you find...
Thought I would share what I worked on this weekend.
On my original light switch the internal brass contacts broke, I tried to rebuild them but anytime you went over a bump the lights would flicker. Since the cheapest original replacement I have ever seen was $400 I decided to replace it with...
Has anyone else seen where the in dash oil pressure gauge on a 1936 coupe is exactly 10 psi higher than a mechanical gauge which is on the same T as the oil pressure sender. The sender is new from Thirdgen.

Well aware of the Idle Jets vs Idle mixture screws. I actually just replaced every brass part in the carb with the exception of the float and the butterflies. I detected the leak while running the new mixture screws.
I was looking for vacuum leaks with carb cleaner and found the idle screws weren't sealing. What is the recommended fix? Is it time for a new base from Stromberg?
I put some Permatex aviation form a gasket on the threads and it has made an improvement.
For anyone looking for a fan belt. I found that the Dayco BP54 seems to be a perfect fit on my 36 with the 221.
Was $15.99 at Blains Farm and Fleet

For anyone interested I ended up having to drill both Idle jets out. Nothing seemed to work, I even drilled the head and hammered in a torx bit and ended up snapping the bit.
I did chase the threads with a 1/4-24 tap and had to use a bit of Permatex aviation form a gasket on the thread gaps.
My reason to switch was around ease of maintenance and parts availability, plus I already have a crab distributor that came with some other parts I bought.
Need assistance on Identifying what drum and hub I might be running.
36 Ford converted to hydraulic drums, I have no idea when. Drum and hub is 2 piece.
I also installed new longer wheel studs. Dorman 610-345.
