    Gil Baumgartner-CTCI Gil's Garage

Certainly. He has left a lasting legacy with lots of great knowledge. I found his page on fordomatic transmission identification to be very useful in figuring out where the engine and transmission in my 56 Victoria came from.

    fordomatic

I think the fordomatic 2 speed thing confuses people. most fordomatics were 3 speed. most started in 2nd and shifted to 3rd (1:1). 1st could be obtained from the column at a stop or low enough speed. There was a genuine 2 speed fordomatic but was only really in 60's or later. I think it had...

    Aerostar spring isolaters.

Thanks, that's good info... I hadn't thought about re arching to a specific height. It looks okay but its like the rear springs have lost alot of stiffness... On some occasions I'll bottom out on the axle bump stops. It's more frequent with people in the back.

    Aerostar spring isolaters.

yeah it may settle out further but now I need to sort out the rear. My rear leafs have flattened out, I have no lowering blocks in the rear. I been thinking about getting the springs re-arched and fitting lowering blocks to suit my tastes or fitting some air assisted shocks like gabriel...

    Aerostar spring isolaters.

So I finally got a chance to put it all together. Bare in mind that I like a neutral stance. Not ready looking for really low. Moog CC850 springs + Mr Gasket 1285 spring isolators. I stayed with the stock lower bump stop as there seems to be plenty of travel. Drives much better with the...

    Aerostar spring isolaters.

It's got a 312 and medium case fordo from a t bird. The body is completely rust free (now). I've rebuilt the front end and everything but the motor. I'm looking to customize it a little with suspension and classic wheels. Just a cool cruiser.

    Aerostar spring isolaters.

Yes Mike. I love my 56. It great looking. The front could be a bit lower and I'm looking for the progressive spring to improve handling a little.

    Aerostar spring isolaters.

Great info. Thanks. I'm interested mainly in the top isolator... I guess my main concern is probably that it will be too low and I will want pad it a bit. My factory isolators are not in great shape so I'll need some replacement.

    Aerostar spring isolaters.

I know this is probably best left for the H.A.M.B but I searched and couldn't find direct part numbers. Who has used aerostar springs with isolators and if so, what parts did you use and where did you get them? I've ordered some Moog CC850's and some pancake bump stops.

    Getting my numbers up

I imported this in 2018 to New Zealand. Shipped it from Schenectady, New York. I think is was 10G's (south pacific pesos) to ship... can't remember. It went the long way through panama. Where in NZ are you... I'm in Tauranga

Thank you. I can't remember the trans number but it's a medium case fordomatic from a 56 tbird. At sometime in this cars history it had it's motor and box swapped out for a 56 tbird.
