    tire with

You can reduce tire pressure in the spare for your tire well to perhaps 20 pounds or so to fit it if needed - and it will still get you home.

thoughts on the Model A engine?

There is nothing wrong with a nice original Model A motor. Why can't we just leave them like they were made - which was pretty dam good. "To each their own" - but why do we need to make race cars out of these historic old artifacs?

Need help getting headlights wired properly

Looks like, in the time it took me to write the previous post, you posted that you did indeed purchase and install a new harness - good move.

Need help getting headlights wired properly

I had some trouble with an old wiring harness this past summer on my '30 roadster. Bought a new wiring harness from Smith and Jones for about $72. Only took me a few hours work to get old one removed and new one installed. No problems now and everything is properly color coded. Perhaps this...

    How fast should I drive?

If you want to go 60 + mph, I would recommend a Toyota Camry. Don't mean any rudeness here to anyone, but these Model A Fords were made from 1928 thru 1931. They are durable cars that will perform against all odds. They can be run on dirt roads, keep running when all worn out, and are pretty...

Does it run in cold weather ?

I drove a Model A to high school back in 1965 and 1966 - in Maine. Lots of winter days it was below zero, but my little truck never let me down. My father put #10 oil in it during the coldest weeks. Pretty thin, I know, but the old girl burned about a quart to 100 miles anyway. I still have...

    Tom Wesenberg's Model A

Nice article in the March issue of "Classic Car" featuring Tom Wesenberg's Model A phaeton - a remarkably original car. (I apologize if someone has already mentioned this in a post - I did a quick check and didn't find it) Ed

starting engine for the first time

Maybe refers to the cam plunger and spring in the timing gear case? Makes a hell of a knock if not right or missing.

    1931 Roadster Dash Rail Question

I understand Chris above, but I've had a fiberglas dash rail on my '30 delux roadster for 35 years now. It fit good, looks good, and I'm ok with it. It still looks good. We're all different. Ed

    Question for Larry Brumfield

Well Chris - I meant the body frame of course. And Larry - thanks for waiting at the top of the hill. I'm in 2nd gear now - chugging along - - - - Hang on - I'll get there.

    Question for Larry Brumfield

OK Purdy - I see your points. I suppose there are only so many good original head left. And saving gas is always a good thing for the environment. And people do get impatient following a Model A uphill. Ed

    Question for Larry Brumfield

What's wrong with Henry Ford's heads? Geez - I don't want to go 65 miles an hour in a car with a wood frame and mechanical brakes. And I kinda like saving the money and enjoying the old Model A as it is. When I want to go fast, i'll drive the Toyota. Standard head - no waiting, no nasty...

    Shorting/Arcing At Starter Rod

I would (after disconnecting the battery) take the starter switch off the top of the starter after unscrewing the rod of course, and check it out real good. I't easy enough to do, and the switch itself is incredibly simple in function - basicall a copper strip is pushed against a copper post on...

    Retired at last

Good for you Clyde - you're going to love being retired - like being on vacation every day. I retired last January. One project was to get my '30 roadster running after 18 years of hibernation. I'd had a lot of fun with it when my family was young, then stored it. Jacked her up, drained the...
