1940 V8 Helmet Distributor Rotor to Inner Cap Gap

Great question. I'm not sure to be honest. I was told it was "nearly new" by the guy who rebuilt it. I will check....

1940 V8 Helmet Distributor Rotor to Inner Cap Gap

Thanks for all the input. I guess I'll be taking my distributor off again and fixing my large gap. I just had a distributor rebuilt and bought NOS inner caps from the guy who rebuilt the distributor. Gap was way bigger than spec...probably worse than it was with the old inner Chinese caps. Oh...

1940 V8 Helmet Distributor Rotor to Inner Cap Gap

Hello out there. Does anyone know what the gap between the rotor posts and the inner cap posts is supposed to be for a 1940 Ford V8 with helmet distributor? Thanks in advance.

Could also probably go this route...trying to correct it and hope I don't experience the "be careful what you ask for" routine.

    47 Big Truck Model Numbers

Very true. I think you can even order those glove box placards so who knows if the one in there is the original. I'm sure UT DMV won't care so I'll just apply for the title with the info that is already on the current title and pat myself on the back for being so smart for knowing what the...

    Utah Generator/Starter rebuild

Yes, that is a problem for us in northern Utah. I used Chic a couple times. Since he is no more I've used a guy on Ebay called "ford-sparky." He's out of Laramie, WY. I have dealt with him outside of Ebay as well. I've been pleased. I'm pretty sure he does generators and starters.

    47 Big Truck Model Numbers

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I can find ford model number information in a number of places to include the Green Book. I've got a few 47 big trucks. When I look at the Green Book data and I look at my trucks I can pretty easily see what model it is. Problem is the glove box door...

12volt vs 6 volt Coil in 6 volt System

Update: I installed the new Flamethrower 1.5 ohm coil and the truck still would not fire. Yesterday I installed a new Mallory 400 condenser and she fired right up! Success. FYI, the previous condenser was a "new" period correct style condenser that had only been on the truck a year and not...

42-47 1/2 Ton Pickup Running Board Hardware

I think you are correct about the carriage bolts. I will just need to remove an installed bolt and see what it is and go from there. The boards themselves attach directly to 3 brackets. These brackets attach to the frame, but the board only attaches to the brackets. Was just hoping to find...
