Although my shop does build model A blocks from the valve work to pouring the bearings my f150 transmission is in a 1967 toyota land cruiser FJ40 matched up to an isuzu 4bd2t 4 cylinder turbo diesel motor and adapted to the stock land cruiser transfercase.
But for the people who want to drive...
Louis Summerall still does them...but at 88 yrs old he doesn't do them quickly.
You must have come while he was getting hip surgery. We were unsure back then about his return because of his age.
Plan on about a month turn around for just bearings, plan on about 6-9 months for a complete build
Sweet. Seems my issue are just the keys and spring clips.
I'll hopefully have those long keys in the proper 1 2 location later tonight
Thanks a ton you guys
if by the top you mean the shifter assembly no i left the shifter tower intact being that this was a low mileage transmission that was working very well when removed. No gears were damage. Because i was installing a custom main shaft i went ahead and rebuilt while it was all apart, i also...
Thank you Ken. Email sent. I have no idea what to do about the etch marks at this point. Putting the springs back in position should be simple enough. I did verify the hubs slid smoothly inside the sleeve before assembly
In my experience re arched springs like to loose their new arch more quickly the second time around and adding leafs to the pack to prevent this gives a rougher ride.
I now have a Ford fsm. Probably about the best manual one could acquire . I know I need to go back into the transmission but I have specific questions involving the etch marks on the sleeves and hubs which I cannot find and positioning of the 3 levers.
