Hi - I am getting ready to put my hood back on my 1940 Ford deluxe coupe and I can't find one piece of stainless trim. I need the drivers side smaller front piece (3 rib?#. I have all the other pieces, but as small parts will do after a two year project it can't be found. You can see where the...
One of my rear window seals won't lie flat in the corner as described in original thread. I would be willing to try heat gun, but I'm concerned about paint damage. Is there a technique or heat range that would instill more confidence on using this technique and not hurting new paint job? Thanks
Thanks for the response. I'm still not getting it. I was just out playing with the handle and couldn't get it to catch. Without the notches it seems to slide right out. What is the function of the threaded screw hole in the base? The aftermarket handles only have a short allen screw in them...
Hi - I have aftermarket exterior door handles for my 1940 coupe. I do not have any originals to copy (car came to me as a pile of parts). I understand there is a notch near the end of the square shaft. Can someone post a picture or give me dimensions to make the correct notch on my handles? I...
I just installed my 'Drake' front and rear bumpers on my 1940 Ford coupe. In both cases the outside holes lined up nicely, but the inner brackets had to be pushed into position. I also had a 1939 bumper where the holes are lined up differently than a '40' Ford. Be sure that the brackets sent are...
I'm starting the final assembly of my 1940 Ford coupe and I can't find three of the springs that go into the headlight buckets. There are four springs in each of the buckets that are part of the adjustment mechanism for the headlights. I know that I can buy a kit, but I only need three springs...
I believe this window regulator is the drivers side for a 1940 Ford coupe (I got it with a project '40' coupe I bought that I installed power windows). Be sure by looking at the pictures that it will work for you! Condition is very good to excellent - very tight and very minor wear on large gear...
I have name brand parts coming, but you guys have me worried that it will just be for show - and not actually work when it rains. I like everything to work on my cars, so I'll do whatever it takes to get there. Again, thanks for the information.
I am in the process of reassemblying my 1940 deluxe coupe and need to get the windshield wiper mechanism installed. I bought this as an old neglected project car and have absolutely no parts to the windshield wipers. I was thinking Specialty Products cable drive would be a good way to go, but...
Don't start redrilling holes - yet! Make sure the the "reveal" is lined up (as already mentioned) and the holes should align at the same time. Typically if trim doesn't line up it means there's a problem on how the door hangs and / or the body needs shimming. I just put my '40' body back on the...
